About
Urubu Texano CONSULATE
A story of love, passion, pride, and belonging — on and off the field
The Urubu Texano Consulate was born from the longing for Maracanã and the desire to live Flamengo’s spirit even far from Brazil.
In 2016, the first spark of what would become the Urubu Texano Consulate came to life, inspired by a group of friends who gathered at the “Ninho do Urubu Texano” — the home of our beloved Presida — to watch Flamengo matches together.
Soon after, that home gave way to Emporio Brazilian Café, which welcomed us with open arms and became a gathering place for even more Flamengo supporters.
In 2019, as the team built one of the most successful seasons in its history, we decided to make our consulate official through Flamengo’s Embassies and Consulates Program. With the support of Maurício Gomes de Mattos, then vice president of the program, and council member Dekko Roisman, the consulate was officially recognized on June 4, 2019 — the same day Flamengo defeated Corinthians 1–0 in the Copa do Brasil.
Months later, on November 23, nearly 250 fans came together to witness the legendary comeback against River Plate and celebrate Flamengo’s second Copa Libertadores title. From that moment, Urubu Texano became a true symbol of the Nação Rubro-Negra in Texas.
Today, the Urubu Texano Consulate hosts its gatherings and game watch parties at Beer and Grill Kitchen & Bar, both in Katy and Houston, with each location holding just over 100 people.
We promote dozens of games throughout the year, including special events such as finals, launches, and visits from club legends — like the unforgettable appearance of the iconic Raul Plassmann, who moved fans with his presence in 2024 and returns again for another historic moment.
Beyond Football: Social Actions that Make a Difference
What sets us apart as an official consulate isn’t just our passion for Flamengo — it’s our commitment to solidarity and community.
Since becoming officially recognized, we’ve carried out countless charitable initiatives in both the United States and Brazil, proving that love for Mengão can (and should) be a force for transformation.
These efforts are made possible thanks to the unity of Flamengo fans abroad and our guiding principle:
“Everything for Flamengo. Nothing from Flamengo.”
Every event, every ticket, every jersey sold… all of it is meant to turn support into real, positive impact for those who need it most.
🔴⚫ A Consulate That Represents, Welcomes, and Transforms
Being part of the Urubu Texano Consulate means living Flamengo with intensity — even thousands of miles away from Maracanã. It’s about feeling at home among fellow fans, singing, cheering, getting emotional — and also reaching out, building bridges, and giving back to the community.
With pride, we show that being Flamengo is more than supporting a team — it’s living with purpose.
